Today has proved to be yet another productive day for the RoboHounds. Today's work has been centered around building the ram, and reinforcing the robot's structure. Some screws have been ground down (at the expense of a grinder stone). Hot dogs were ordered and Mr. Beauchamp wore a sweater vest. All the pieces are coming together and it won't be long before the robot is completed. Then it shall be only a matter of fixing bugs and practicing for the competition.
So, we're halfway through the season and we are doing pretty well on time. The bottom of our chassis is built and we should have the rest done by the end of Saturday (1/25). The main part of the code should be done by then as well. The only things that need to be done after that is the vision, dashboard and LED's. Our code can be found on github at https://github.com/4500robotics/4500-2014. Today we also fabricated the clutch system for the linear punch to be used in conjugation with the winch. The CAD files for the entirety of the robot will be uploaded at a later time. I hope everyone else's season is going as well as our's is!
Good luck to everyone,
Following the kickoff last Saturday, we split into small groups who then brainstormed ideas for the robot's design. Later this week, these groups will be presenting their ideas to the whole team and we will then vote on the design.
We are hoping for a variety of ideas to be presented, showing the wide range of creative thoughts from our team.
In other news, St Louis was hit earlier this week with a massive snow storm. Thus, our school was closed so we weren't able to work Monday and Tuesday of this week. We hope to make up for this lost time soon.
this is the robot we've constructed to select and train our drivers for the 2014 competition
